Guide to Friday’s best games of the NCAA Tournament

The Post picks out the best games from the 16 opening-round contests that make up a 12-hour hoops buffet on Day 2 of the NCAA Tournament:

(7) Michigan State vs. (10) Georgia
12:40 p.m., truTV

Tom Izzo's Spartans typically play their best late in the season and this year is no exception, winners of four straight before pushing Wisconsin to overtime in a losing effort in the Big Ten title game. Michigan State is a trendy pick to upset No. 2 seed Virginia in the East Region and shouldn't get too much trouble from Georgia, whose claim to fame is threatening Kentucky before losing by eight earlier this month.

(5) West Virginia vs. (12) Buffalo
2:10 p.m., TNT

New Jersey native Bobby Hurley, who guided Duke's early '90s teams, returns to the NCAA Tournament, this time as Buffalo's head coach. The Bulls were competitive in non-conference play, leading both Kentucky and Wisconsin at halftime earlier this season. West Virginia, meanwhile, has been depleted by injuries to guards Juwan Staten and Gary Browne, though both are expected to play.

(7) Wichita State vs. (10) Indiana
2:45 p.m., CBS

Wichita State has revenge on the mind after losing as an undefeated No. 1 seed to Kentucky in the Round of 32 last year. The Shockers seem to have been seeded too low, given their 28-4 record, while Indiana was considered a bubble team yet received a No. 10 seed. The Hoosiers are an up-tempo team that plays a fun style, with guard Yogi Ferrell a threat to score from anywhere on the floor and Troy Williams one of the best dunkers in the country.

(4) Louisville vs. (13) UC-Irvine
4:10 p.m., TBS

Rick Pitino's Cardinals are playing without guard Chris Jones, who was booted off the team after rape charges. They've been able to win ugly in the meantime, including against top-seeded Virginia, but have trouble scoring and have cracked 60 points just twice in their past seven games. That likely means a close game, and UC-Irvine could become the latest Cinderella in a tournament already off to a wild start.

(8) Oregon vs. (9) Oklahoma State
6:50 p.m., TBS

One of the day's most evenly matched games also features one of the country's most exciting players, Oregon's Joseph Young. The diminutive guard can score in bunches, averaging 20.2 a game this season, and scored 74 points in three games in the Pac-12 Tournament.

(3) Oklahoma vs. (14) Albany
7:27 p.m., truTV

Sooners fans couldn't have felt good watching Thursday's action seeing two of the three Big 12 No. 3 seeds getting knocked out. So there's hope for Albany, with the Great Danes led by the inspirational story of Peter Hooley, the Australian who left the team earlier in the season to be with his ailing mother before she died. Hooley returned to hit the game winning-shot in the America East Tournament to send Albany to the NCAAs. Can Albany be the next No. 14 seed to pull off a stunner?

(6) Providence vs. (11) Dayton
9:57 p.m., truTV

After winning a First Four game in its home arena, Dayton makes the short trip to Columbus, Ohio, to face the higher seeded Providence. There's little doubt the Friars are the better team — Kris Dunn and LaDontae Henton are one of the best duos in the country — but the favorable travel for the lower seeded team has some fans calling foul on the NCAA.
