DEAR JOHN... THE ANSWER MAN

Readers: Last week I printed a note from the son of an elderly and sick woman who is being jerked around by Wells Fargo.

I tried to personally intercede with the bank on behalf of this woman and a few others, but Wells Fargo is either unwilling or unable to help people in jeopardy of losing their homes.

It could have something to do with the fact that real estate is suddenly in a new bubble, and Wells Fargo and all the other banks that gave out mortgages can benefit if they seize people's homes.

Here's what readers had to say.

Dear John: Once again I have read an article that has made me so angry. What has this country come to when a big bank with no heart or reason would put an old woman on the street?

Please forward my e-mail address to this woman's son so I can help raise the $8,000 that she will need by July 25.

I think that with all the people I know we can raise the money that she would need to end this matter for her. Thank you as always. R.D.

Dear John: I am a regular reader of your column and saw the letter from the son of the woman in Bellmore who is battling Wells Fargo with no success.

Sadly this is all too common.

I am an attorney in Seaford, Long Island, who has been representing homeowners fighting foreclosures and seeking modifications since the beginning of the crisis.

My firm has had substantial success, and I would be happy to represent this neighbor on a pro-bono basis.

Here are my address and phone numbers.

Thank you for your time. D.N.

Dear John: My law firm is currently litigating several cases against Wells Fargo.

Unfortunately, only lawyers seem to get the attention of the powers that be at Wells Fargo.

Perhaps Wells Fargo needs to be reminded that a contested foreclosure can take upwards of three years.

As a devoted reader of your column, I would be happy to help this woman work out her problem. J.L.

Dear D.N., R.D. and J.L.: Thanks for your concern. I've given your contact information to this woman's son, and I assume he will be getting in touch.

Let's see how much pain Wells Fargo is willing to suffer before it gets some humanity.
