Ryan Kavanaugh's helicopter use is again at the center of a brawl. But this time it's not about the neighbors.
Back in April 2011, angry residents complained about the noise of Kavanaugh's regular trips from Malibu to LA helipads on top of hotels.
This time, it's the LA County Sheriff, Leroy D. Baca, who has a beef, according to sources who claim it's personal and politically motivated.
Kavanaugh's lawyer is said to have sent a letter dated June 29 accusing the sheriff of "misconduct."
The letter to the sheriff reads: "Misconduct is in retaliation for his support of your political opponent in next year's race for Los Angeles County Sheriff. Be assured that Mr. Kavanaugh will not be intimidated."

According to the letter, the Relativity studio boss thinks he's being unfairly targeted for his love of flying because he is fundraising for the sheriff's former No. 2, Paul Tanaka.
The sheriff is supposedly looking for loopholes in the law to prevent Kavanaugh from taking his preferred routes.
Kavanaugh's office declined to comment on the kerfuffle.
A rep from the sheriff's office told On the Money: "It is not our policy or intent to engage in retribution. It wouldn't be done by this sheriff. People have every right to align with whoever they want."
The spokesman couldn't comment on any letter, though he said that, in general, if people aren't complying with laws, the sheriff's office will give some warning.--Claire Atkinson

Some people enjoy a mere leisurely sail over the Fourth of July weekend, but that's not Larry Ellison's style.
The Oracle founder is all about speed on the water, with his new America's Cup catamaran making some trial runs in San Francisco Bay for this September's race.
Oracle Team USA 17 is Ellison's; the twin-hulled black-and-crimson racer measures 72 feet long, 46 feet across and 131 feet tall to the tip of its rigid carbon-fiber mainsail that resembles an airplane wing, Bloomberg magazine reports.
The boat is capable of speeds of up to 46 miles per hour (40 knots, for all you salts out there).
That's faster than vehicles are allowed to travel on the nearby Golden Gate Bridge, the magazine points out.
Ellison, 68, won the last race in 2010, and as victor gets to choose the venue for this year's event.--Post staff
Shark fun
More private planes flew into Montauk than for any other event, and every yacht slip was booked, for celebrity photographer Ben Watts' Shark Attack Sounds party at the Montauk Yacht Club Friday.
Last year the party was closed down by police, but this year Watts revved it up with a new venue and shuttles to whiz guests into the party, now in its 11th year.
It's a money-spinner: Four thousand tickets at $46 a pop were sold out days before the waterfront party, where boldface names included Alessandra Ambrosio (pictured), Dree Hemingway, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber.
Wattssold his namesake new rosé from Spain at the party for $9 a glass. It sells for $12 a glass, or $40 a bottle, at swank Montauk restaurants or for $18 a bottle online through wineawesomeness.com and competes head-on with local wines, including Wolffer Estates.

The Harvard classmates of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg who claimed he stole the idea from them said last week they filed with the SEC to start an electronically traded fund focused on Bitcoins.
The virtual currency has fallen in value over the last week from just over $100 a bit to under $75 on Friday, despite the unrest in Egypt last week. Earlier this year, Bitcoins reached a high of $266 and a low of $45.
