Security will be increased at all major league stadiums this season, and the Yankees are encouraging fans to get to the Stadium early both on Monday and throughout the season.
Metal detectors will be located at all gates, and fans will be subject to screening and having their bags checked, the result of MLB working with the Department of Homeland Security.
Because of the new measures, Yankee Stadium gates will open to ticket-holders 2¹/₂ hours before the scheduled start time of games during the first homestand.
