In order to get ready for a big game or match, many athletes refrain from certain intimate activities — including light welterweight division boxer Chris Algieri.
"When it comes to preparing for a fight, I not only watch my diet but I refrain from all sexual conduct as well," Algieri told The Post on Friday at the Asaf Ganot show, where he sat front-row.
With a scheduled fight in the works, Algieri already has a game plan set. "I refrain from sex for a total of two weeks. Past girlfriends have understood my regimen, so it has never proved to be a problem," said Algieri, who adds that celibacy "gives you a little extra grrr."
But, while he's never broken the abstinence for past girlfriends, he says there's one lady he would be unable to resist: Salma Hayek.
"I think she is absolutely beautiful," he says. "I have always had a thing for her."
Future competitors take note.
