TORONTO — For the second time in six days, the Nets found themselves in a dogfight with the Raptors.
But unlike last Friday in Brooklyn, when the Nets gave up a fourth-quarter lead before losing in overtime, this time they blew the game open in the final 12 minutes to cruise to a 109-93 victory in front of a sellout crowd of 19,800 at Air Canada Centre.
It gave the Nets their first back-to-back wins since beating the Magic to get to .500 on Jan. 2. They have an opportunity to make it three in a row when the Knicks come to Barclays Center on Friday in what will be the final Nets home game in February.
The win also moved the Nets (20-28) to within a game of the idle Hornets for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Brooklyn was powered by strong performances from the starting backcourt of Jarrett Jack and Alan Anderson, who finished a combined 16-for-22 from the field. Jack had 24 points and Anderson added 22.
After trailing for most of the first half, the Nets opened the second half with a 9-4 run to take a 58-55 lead, and they never trailed again. Toronto, led by Terrence Ross' 23 points off the bench and Kyle Lowry's double-double (13 points and 10 assists), managed to keep it close throughout the third.
The Raptors trailed 76-72 heading into the fourth, before the Nets opened the quarter with an 8-2 run that gave them a 10-point lead early on. They were on cruise control from there.
