One of the worst first pitches of all time is being printed and commemorated for posterity's sake. And so 50 Cent can never live it down.
The rapper's truly awful "pitch," in which he nearly hit two cameramen but managed to steer far clear of the Mets catcher, is being turned into a Topps baseball card, according to the Mets Twitter account.
The May 27 opening pitch, which called for a 90-degree arm rotation and got about a 60-degree tilt, is one of the more eye-opening ever, especially considering 50's athletic background. The dual rapper/actor from Queens explained the bizarre gaffe with equally bizarre rationale: excessive masturbation.
"I have a skeletal muscle injury on my left shoulder from excessive masturbation so take it easy lol,"he said on Reddit, the "lol" added to provide levity to a solemn condition being blamed for a deathly serious blunder.
Luckily, the video already had been preserved forevermore on the Web, a gif that keeps on giving to viewers still, even now, slack-jawed by the truly awfulness of the pitch.
