Do the Jets have a discipline problem?

The Jets do not have a discipline problem if you ask coach Rex Ryan.

The team has drawn criticism this week after star defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson was thrown out of Sunday's game in Green Bay, the team wasted timeouts, had the sideline snafu that wiped out a touchdown and drew 11 penalties in their first game of the season.

"No. Not at all," Ryan said of a possible lack of discipline. "Has it been perfect? Absolutely not."

Ryan pointed out the offense had no false start penalties Sunday despite loud conditions at Lambeau Field and the team using a silent count all day.

"We're trying to become an outstanding football team," Ryan said. "To say this team is undisciplined, [say] anything you want but I don't believe that."

Quarterback Geno Smith also disputed the idea that discipline is an issue.

"Not at all," he said. "We've got tremendous discipline, and it starts from the top to the bottom. We fight hard during the game. We're competitors, and Mo's situation that was a tough one. Obviously, you don't want to do that and we need Mo to be smart in those situations, but we've got to move on and continue to play.

"I don't think we have a problem with discipline at all. [We] went on the road, didn't have any false starts that I saw, didn't really have any clock situations and we we're doing all no huddle stuff. So, we did a pretty good job of being disciplined and staying focused and communicating."

CB Dee Milliner said his ankle is feeling better, but he did not participate fully in practice Wednesday. Milliner played 40 snaps on Sunday and said he expects to play about the same again this week.

RB Chris Johnson has playing just 43 percent of the offensive snaps so far, and less than 50 percent in both of the first two games. That equals the total number of games in which he played less than 50 percent during his six seasons in Tennessee.
Johnson said he is OK with his reduced role.

"It's pretty much what I expected," Johnson said. "It's an adjustment, but I'm used to always having another guy on the team that's getting playing time. It's not a tough adjustment. I feel we have the type of offense that will allow both backs to make big plays."

Johnson has 89 yards on 25 carries with six catches for 23 yards and a touchdown. Chris Ivory has 145 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns. He has caught one pass for three yards.
