After tacking left for the Democratic primary, Gov. Cuomo returned to the political center Friday by touting his record of cutting taxes in a speech before an influential business group.
In remarks before the state Business Council, Cuomo boasted of the three years of "zero" wage increases he extracted from state unions while trimming both the work force and pensions for new workers.
The governor also noted how he took on the teachers union to bolster accountability in public schools.
It was Cuomo's most forceful address to promote his more fiscally conservative credentials since landing the Working Families Party endorsement and defeating lefty professor Zephyr Teachout in this month's Democratic primary.
To secure the WFP's backing, Cuomo promised to push for a higher state minimum wage and also said he'd help Democrats regain control of the state Senate.
