Sure, the Nets will open their season in Boston Oct. 29 and stage their home opener Nov. 3 against Oklahoma City, but their real opener is when Milwaukee and Jason Kidd invade Barclays Center on Nov. 19. That should be fun.
The Nets open with two road games as they follow the Boston match — minus Paul Pierce — with a game at Detroit. Not too difficult a start for a Nets club under a new coach, Lionel Hollins, and no longer burdened with massive expectations.
The Nets will face Kidd's Bucks in Milwaukee on Feb. 9 and Kidd, their former coach who lost a power play with ownership, comes back March 20. The Nets play in Milwaukee on April 12, when Kidd's Bucks could play spoiler.
Here are three other takeaways from the Nets' 2014-15 schedule:
LeBron in the house: Heat fans always managed to wiggle their way into Barclays when LeBron James' Miami Dream Team invaded Brooklyn. Certainly Barclays will be filled to the brim when James' Cavaliers make their two visits on Dec. 8 and March 27.
Sizing up Knicks early: The Knicks will visit Brooklyn early — on Nov. 7 — to get an early gauge on how these two teams stack up against each other. They will meet three more times — Dec. 2 at the Garden, Feb. 6 in Brooklyn and April 1 at the Garden — when a berth in the playoffs could be theirs for the taking.
End with home cooking: Though they are co-hosts to the All-Star Weekend, February will see the Nets play nine of their 11 games on the road, including eight consecutive contests from Feb. 7-28. However, in April, the Nets will play eight of their final 11 games at Barclays Center.
