This bank job blew up in their faces.
Two thieves were caught red-handed when a dye pack exploded moments after they robbed an Astoria Federal Savings Bank in Queens on Friday, cops said.
Bundles of ink-splattered cash went flying into the air around 12:30 p.m. as the three alleged crooks tried to make their getaway from the bank on Hillside Avenue near 179th Place.
The men passed a note to a teller demanding money and she handed over the rigged $1,000 in cash, cops said.
Witnesses saw the three suspects walking slowly near 178th Street and Hillside Avenue when the dye pack suddenly exploded — spewing red ink all over a stack of $20 bills.
The suspects freaked out and tried to run away, cops and witnesses said.
Pedestrians on the busy commercial street crowded around the cash, which was also partially burned from the explosion.
A police officer stood guard to keep anyone from poaching from the pile, witnesses said.
The two ink-splattered suspects were quickly apprehended, but the third fled and is still on the lam, authorities said.
