Entertainment Weekly staff changes

Matt Bean, who jumped from the Sports Illustrated website in February to become the new editor of Entertainment Weekly, is shaking up EW's editorial ranks.

Jeff Giles, the deputy editor, exited on Tuesday — but got a fond farewell note from old boss Jess Cagle, who moved up to editorial director of People last month.

Giles, a seven-year veteran at EW, is working on a book, sources said.

Also gone is Executive Editor Jason Adams, who left after 11 years at the title. His last day was Tuesday.

Neil Janowitz, an ally from Bean's days running SI.com — and earlier at Rodale's Men's Health — was tapped to be the new assistant managing editor of EW.com, replacing Mike Bruno, who was lured by Janice Min to run Billboard's digital operations.

Chris Rackliffe, who was earlier at digital publisher Federated Media, is the new senior social media editor at EW, replacing Nika Vagner, who jumped to do the same job at InStyle.
