Mexico baking giant Grupo Bimbo has reached a new contract with its New York Stroehmann's drivers as part of a deal that will have them deliver more products, The Post has learned.
Grupo Bimbo has separate Teamsters contracts with roughly 200 New York and New Jersey Stroehmann's drivers, and 300 Entenmann's drivers.
The Stroehmann's drivers last week agreed to reduce their commissions on products they deliver from 10 percent, to 9 percent.
In exchange, they will start delivering Sara Lee Bread (sold nationally but not in the New York area) and newly acquired Beefsteak Rye, a source said.
Bimbo continues to hold talks with the Entenmann's drivers. As part of those negotiations, Bimbo wants the drivers to deliver a new line of Hostess knock-off cakes at lower commissions than they charge on other products they deliver.
The bakery has been threatening to place those Sara Lee branded cakes with Stroehmann's drivers if they fail to reach a deal.
