Comedian Jacob Williams steps up to the stage to face off against Nick Cannon in a clip from the upcoming reincarnation of the MTV2 improv comedy/ rap battle show "Wild N Out."
"Being married to Mariah, that's a lot of clout, but do you ever get lonely when she puts you in time out?" Williams says, in reference to Cannon's wife, Mariah Carey, who is more than a decade older than him.
The camera zooms in on Cannon as his eyes widen and his jaw drops.
But then he throws his head back in a fit of laughter.
On the show, which is returning after a five-year hiatus, the young comedians duke it out along with famous guest stars with quick-witted, lyrical jabs. Think Comedy Central's roasts — hip-hop style.
Nick Cannon is one of the busiest guys in TV, with shows on NBC and MTV and several upcoming projects.
So, it's no wonder Cannon's marriage makes for an easy target.
"Nothing is off limits," Cannon tells The Post. "I'm one of those true believers that as long as it's funny, it's fair game. If I'm the target, bring it!"
But battlers be warned, Cannon has heard most of the Carey jokes already.
"Everybody wants to come with their best Mariah joke and by Episode 3 it's like, alright we've heard all of that, you've got to be more creative with it," he says. "And I love it because I already know what they're going to say, and, in my mind, I've already got a rebuttal for what anybody tries to throw at me."
A lot has changed since Cannon created and executive produced "Wild N Out" from 2005-2009.
In addition to his high-profile marriage to Carey, Cannon became the father of twins, Moroccan and Monroe, and his career has skyrocketed.
"I'm fire-hot right now when it comes to exposure," Cannon says. "The reason I created this show in the first place was to give exposure to hot, new talent and to have fun with my friends. So, I want to show that I can still do that regardless of all of the other things that I have going on right now. I still know how to let my hair down, have a good time and not take myself so seriously."
"Wild N Out" premieres July 9, and it's more than just a hosting gig — as an executive producer, Cannon traveled around the world to cast for comedians. He's also hosting his fifth season of NBC's "America's Got Talent," starring on BET's popular "Real Husbands of Hollywood," which returns this fall, and bringing back the classic series "Soul Train" to NBC, which he says will air next year. This week, he's also hosting the "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks" telecast in New York.
Cannon and his family live in Tribeca, which is one of the reasons "Wild N Out" filmed in the city this time around, as opposed to Hollywood.
"It's the greatest city in the world," he says. "When you think about New York being the birth place of hip hop, it's so raw and in your face."
