Reynolds' recent column would make a lot more sense if he had not implied that James O'Keefe's "exposés of ACORN and voter fraud" were legitimate journalism, much less worthy of being protected by a "shield" law.
O'Keefe has been exposed by several investigations as a fraud who deceptively edits and overdubs video to create a deliberate and grossly inaccurate impression — a path that has cost him $100,000 in a defamation lawsuit. As a result, we need to ensure that people like O'Keefe cannot use a shield law to hide their sources and continue to deceive the public.Jim Carls

I'd like to see Durbin brought up on charges of conspiracy against civil rights. He doesn't get to define who's a journalist, but we the people get to define who's a legislator.
Since he's in violation of his oath of office to defend the Constitution, he should lose his privileges as a member of the Senate, and Illinois should send a qualified senator next time.

Durbin wants to restrict the freedom of the press to those working at an established paper or other media because he and his fellow Democrats are getting hammered by bloggers and self-printing media outlets.
The established media are working to limit information for the average voter. Why else would people keep voting for Durbin and his ilk?
I shudder to think what this country would be without the bloggers and self-publishers out there printing the truth.
