IT HAPPENS: You try some-thing new on the menu and rea-lize you should've gotten what your date ordered. Such was the case for Jason, 27, a tech-account exec, and Xenia, 24, an executive assistant, two adventurous eaters who met up at the West Village French brasserie, La Villette. Were they able to share their food without biting each other's heads off?
He said:
I didn't recognize Xenia until the hostess pointed to the girl at the bar drinking the water. Xenia was attractive, but also noticeably nervous. She was relieved to realize I wasn't a creep.

We sat in the corner booth, which was the best table in the house. Since Xenia spent some time in France, she navigated the menu and we tried dishes like foie gras together.
While we are both worldly and had some similar interests, for some reason I began to see Xenia more as a friend. I enjoyed her company, but I don't think the sparks were there for a second date.
The blind date was a first for both of us, but it was a great way to meet someone in NYC. I would be happy to have Xenia as a friend.
She said:
Jason was extremely handsome. I actually had to break eye contact so he wouldn't see me blushing.
We both love to eat, which made dinner at La Villette fun because we weren't afraid to try new dishes like escargot.
I also learned medium-rare is the way to go after trying Jason's steak. (I always order mine medium-well.) But I made the better drink choice, so I let him have a sip.
I wish we had a chance to dance because Jason said that's something he likes to do. Maybe next time.
I'd like to hang out with Jason again and get to know him better. No clue where this could lead, but I know it would be a fun journey.
