John McAfee may be at the center of a bizarre, international murder case, but that hasn't stopped him from planning a TV movie or TV project about his strange ordeal.
The one-time czar of anti-virus software has sold the rights to his life — the first step in making in a movie.
One catch: he sold them to his own publicist.
Brian Fitzgerald, co-founder of Canadian TV production company Impact Future Media, who is also McAfee's official spokesperson, says his company bought the exclusive rights with the hope of eventually producing a film.
The working title is "Running in the Background: The True Story of John McAfee," he says.

BIG PLANS: John McAfee
"We've been fielding offers from people who want to write the book or a screenplay," said Fitzgerald. "Our primary focus is to close some kind of book and movie deal."
But production on a film may have to wait, since the project's likely star is being held in a Guatemalan detention center and fighting deportation to Belize, where he's wanted for questioning in the murder of his next-door neighbor last month.
"We're wanting to do it sooner rather than later," said Fitzgerald. "[But] since the story is still unfolding, I think it would be premature to go into production."
McAfee is wanted by Belize authorities for questioning in the death of another US expatriate, Gregory Faull, in November.
The software millionaire was arrested in Guatemala last week and is fighting extradition.
