The Issue: Last week's rule that passenger vehicles must contain at least three people to enter Manhattan.
***
The mayor has made a bad situation worse by enacting a silly carpool rule to enter New York City ("'Abridged Too Far': Drivers," Nov. 2).
This diverts important resources from the Police Department to enforce this regulation.
Many of our citizens don't have access to information about this because they have no power.
We are wasting enormous amounts of gas with the traffic these regulations have caused, when we can least afford to do so.Bruce Weinfeld

My husband and I are residents of Monmouth Beach, NJ, and taxpaying homeowners of a co-op on the Upper West Side.
We left the shore for the Upper West Side only after waiting to find a third passenger, to comply with Mayor Bloomberg's requirement.
That one-hour trip took six hours, five of which were spent at the ingenious checkpoint at the toll plaza to the Lincoln Tunnel. After passing inspection, we were one of maybe three cars that drove through.
We came from an area that was utterly devastated, only to be slapped in the face by the mayor, who made a bad situation even worse.
He owes me and all others who made that trek an apology.
Shame on you, Bloomberg!
